Cortaderia selloana ‘Evita’

Compared to other Cortaderias, this pampas grass grows compactly and produces many panicles during its flowering period (August-September). In our opinion, this is the best variety. The leaves are very firm and hang over nicely. The Cortaderia is excellent for combining with ground covers and other low plants, but it is also beautiful as a background in a large border. In the winter, the beautiful plumes remain, it is a leaf-bearing and Hardy species. However, hedging is not recommended in severe frost. It is also better not to place it in damp soil. Therefore, a spot with well-draining soil is ideal. In early spring, you can cut off the entire plant to about 30 centimetres above the ground. The Evita will then grow like new again. Do not forget to remove the old leaves. Watch out for sharp edges! It is advisable to wear good gloves.
