‘Rubus Idaeus Summer Chef’ is a summer raspberry with dark red fruits that ripen in August – September. The raspberries are large in size, nice dark red in colour and have a sweet-sour taste. This raspberry is self-pollinating and flowers in May with inconspicuous, small white-pink flowers that attract bees and bumblebees. After flowering, the raspberries develop. They can be eaten straight from the bush, but you can also make delicious jam and juice from them. Do not leave the ripe fruit hanging on the bush for too long, otherwise they will lose their delicious flavour. Raspberries are often very expensive in the shops, so it is much more fun to grow them yourself! Raspberries only develop a branch in the first year, which will bear fruit the following year. After the harvest, the branches that have borne fruit can be cut close to the ground. The young branches will flower the following year and then bear fruit. The raspberry needs support to grow well, so always place it against a climbing frame. It also likes a sunny spot.
