Clematis The President’ belongs to the Large flowers clematis family and has full purple-blue flowers. It flowers twice a year and therefore adds a nice touch to your garden. The first flowering is around May-June and the second flowering is between July and September. After the clematis has flowered for the first time, it is best to prune it back so that it will flower again for the second time. Its neat and compact growth makes this climber suitable for both large and small gardens. Clematises were probably already loved in ancient times. The Greeks called all kinds of climbing plants clematis, which means ‘rank’ and refers to its ability to climb. So it is a climbing plant that needs some help if you want to make it climb more attractively. It is best to lead the plant up along a rack, wire or stick. The clematis does well in the semi-shade as well as in the sun. This makes the clematis suitable for most places in your garden. With more sun, however, the clematis will flower more profusely. The roots of the clematis do need to be in the shade and cool. Make sure there is always something growing in front of the foot of the plant or plant the clematis deeper in the ground, about 10 cm deeper than the height of the clod.
