Clematis Hagley Hybrid’ is a Large flowers clematis that produces beautiful pink flowers. These appear during the summer months, July to September. It loses its leaves in the winter, but flowers again beautifully in the spring. Prune the clematis at the end of the winter until it is 30 cm above the ground, in this way you get the richest blooms and keep the plant in good shape. If you want to grow your clematis along a rack or fence, it is advisable to help the plant a little. You can do this by tying the new shoots neatly along the rack or by guiding them through the fence. The clematis does very well in the semi-shade as well as in the sun. This makes it suitable for most places in your garden. In more sunlight, however, the clematis will flower more profusely. The roots of the clematis do need to be in the shade and cool. Make sure there is always something growing in front of the foot of the plant or plant the clematis deeper in the ground, about 10 cm deeper than the height of the root ball. This will protect it against the nasty wilting disease that can affect the above-ground stems, and the plant will remain healthy below ground.
