‘Parthenocissus Quinquefolia Engelmannii’, also called wild vine, is a fast growing, self-adhesive climber. It does not need to be tied up. The three-pointed leaf is green in summer and turns a beautiful bright red in autumn. Thanks to its strong adhesive roots, the vine grows quickly and securely against gables and fences. In winter, it loses its leaves but can survive severe winters. It is an easy plant that can stand in both sun and shade. In spring it has green-yellow flowers that are hardly noticeable. Pruning is not necessary, but can be done throughout the year to keep it compact or if it threatens to overgrow glass or wood. The plant’s adhesive roots will cause it to leave traces and that, of course, is not the intention. In such cases, be sure to cut back the vine well in time, as the plant can take it just fine.
