Ophiopogon Planiscapus Nigrescens’, also known as snake’s beard, is a low-growing ornamental grass that grows to about 20 centimetres in height. Originating from Japan, it is very decorative with its unique grassy black-green leaves. The ornamental grass flowers in July and August with beautiful small purple flowers, which then turn into shiny black berries. A great advantage of this plant is that it retains its leaves all year round and is good to use as a ground cover. Of course, it can also be placed in a planter on the terrace or balcony. Ophiopogon planiscapus’ grows and flowers well in full sun or semi shade and is Hardy.
